As you all know the Patrol has been off the road for a while due to lack of funds to remedy the rust etc.
well yesterday I noticed some oil on our drive and thought I better investigate so walked to the front of our Astra parked on the road at front of house and....... Oh dear it has been sick all over the road. So now we have no car and looks like I'm using my fold up bike to get to work later:(. My brother in law is coming to have a look later or tomorrow so fingers crossed its a cheap fix.

Lift the bonnet and have a quick look, it could be as simple as the oil filter has come undone, or the filler cap has come off.
I hate anything leaking from our vehicles.

I've had a look and can't really see what is leaking the oil has travelled down a pipe . I think it might be an oil return pipe for the turbo as it's in the right area. Struggling to look properly as I have a bad back and don't want to start stripping car down if it's not necessary. Thanks guys I will let u know when I have an update. Hope it's soon because cycling home from work last night all up hill nearly killed me off lol:)

Brother in law has just had a look and it's the oil feed pipe to the alternator that has split due to a broken clip. So fingers crossed should be fixed in next few days.

Yay the astra is back on the road but at the cost of £100:( because Vauxhall are robbing see you next Tuesday's. The oil feed pipe was £71.40 inc vat and funnily enough only they could supply:(.
You don't realise how much you take the car for granted until having to ride a fold up bike to work on night shifts:eek:. The last few days without a car have nearly done me in.:lol.
Anyway I shouldn't complain as the astra has done over 230'000 miles and in the 4 years we've owned her this has been the biggest cost not counting normal service costs, (tyres, brakes, oil e.t.c)
So now she's back im going to treat her to a valet over the weekend.:D
