Our Jeep averages around the 25-27 mpg except on a long trip when it will manage around 34-35 mpg.

I reset the trips and drove home from filling station via A50 dual carriageway covering 11 miles with 8 miles on normal roads. I did a steady 50 mph on dual carriageway to see what sort of economy I could obtain. Loads of HGV's overtook me but managed 39 mpg it was almost 40 but he uphill exit slip road cost me 0.9 mpg drop !

I used to love doing that on my Volvo's... if you reset it then coast down a long hill you can get 999miles to the gallon.. lol

I remember when a mate had an MG Maestro it would give you 999 mpg as well no doubt off the scale!.
The Jeep only does an average reading once you have done a couple of miles as it is old technology circa 2000 when they used the old MB Satnav / Command/Radio module design.

I would like to see all new vehicle data being more realistic. When I was in car sales back in the 1970's the three figures in brochures were if I remember right, Urban, Extra Urban.& Combined.

The Urban Brochure Figure was always spot on for most vehicles. Virtually none I sold had an Urban figure over 29 mpg including the likes of the Opel Kadette & Audi 80 back in the day.
