Hi guys. Was hoping someone here could help with this. My better half has lost her remote key. There was only 1 remote and 1 non remote with the car. Was wondering if 0it is possible to buy a second hand one and reprogram it to lock/unlock only. I understand the chip will not be programmed to allow the car to start and frankly I'm not spending £££s for a replacement unless I can find someone who can do it on the side, even then I'm reluctant as the car is a 2004 3 cylinder sack of **** corsa c.
My thinking was buy one off fleabay, program it too lock/unlock and hang it on the key ring. Will it work?

Even though I've just brought a Vauxhall myself............... I've no idea :lol

I'll ask on another forum I'm on for you :thumb2

Seems that the re-programming of the central locking bit is easy, key into ignition, turn to position 2, press lock and then unlock and you're done, however if this is a totally new key and you plan on using it to start the car too then the immobiliser has to be coded with a piece of software called Tech 2.

This costs anything between £50-£100, may be able to find it cheaper through a friend of a friend who has the software :nenau

Hope that's helpful :thumb2

Thanks Banshee. That's how I read it. I'm not worried about a second key to start the car, just lock/unlock.
