A friend has a freelander 01 plate autobox.

It makes a noise while driving from 5mph+ and a even worse noise when you turn.

What do you think?

Collapsed wheel bearing? Auto box fault? Shafts?

Anyone know of a good garage that wont rip off near Gatwick?

Single mum and all that crap :lol

Land rover have said they want £1800 and not even looked at it yet.

Im guessing wheel bearings.....But then I'm a firefighter not a mechanic and im over 100 miles away with a woman telling me what she hears :doh

Auto box problems are common on these, my opposite neighbour had 3 gearboxes in two years and they don't do many miles (and they bought from a main dealer) they have traded it now and bought a Nissan Note. Sorry I can't help much :thumb2

Viscous coupling and / or the rear prop front diff bearing.

Even MORE common than gearbox faults! (i'd go so far as to say you need to carry a spare)
