hello all, sometimes when I start driving my terrano (2.7 td) in the morning I can hear an intermittent screeching noise coming from underneath towards the back (sounds like somewhere round the rear wheel/axle area). This usually goes away after a minute or two driving but I was wondering if anyone had any idea what could be causing it and whether it needs attention. Thanks, Rob S

Handbrake? Maybe the shoes are binding om your hubs and then releasing due to momentum/heat?

It may be worth changing your LSD oil as it maybe your diff, if you do change the oil, you must use the correct LSD oil.
As Banshee says, it could be your handbrake sticking.
Are you sure it's coming from the back axle area, it may be the cooling fan on the engine.
The other thing you could look at are your side steps (if fitted) as they can squeak if they are loose

I was going to mention the LSD oil but that doesn't usually "screech" its more of a rattle but still worth doing if it's not been changed in a while
