hi all ive just gone to clean my banjo with the help of workshop 10 pdf i can not see or feel a spring or banjo filter what shud i do now as i have power loss again ??? any help please guys thanks in advance

regards brian :nenau

sounds like someone has already removed it?

as for power loss, not sure with yours as they are much simpler than what i have, can you describe the power loss??

hi mate the car dose not wanna go over 4000rpm and sometimes it feels like its going to cut out after i stop the first time it did it the car wos doing 5 to 10mph all the power had gone and then it just took off again mate its like the tubo is not kicking it maybe

sounds like a blockage perhaps? check exhaust, check the injectors too. as for the turbo, you should hear it kick in at around 2k revs (put both windows down), if its going up to 4k THEN giving you trouble, id suspect something isnt opening fully but im not sure what on yours-on mine i have a waste gate thingy on my turbo i can adjust, like a big round brass thing, not sure you have one of them?? its on the drivers side of engine on mine but it might be for the I/C.

thanks for the info mate ill take a look on mine sorry about delay in reply i had to pop out :thumb2

ok let me try and give a bit better info

l reg 1994 2.7td

looks like the banjo filter and spring have been removed in the past (not by me)

the car seems to run ok but then if i rev it at a stand still out of gear it sounds fine but if put my foot down its like the car don,t wanna go above 4000rpm max and then the power drops on hills and so on i also seen a bit of smoke at one point not black:nenau

just been out in the truck on a road that i can put my foot down on its like all the top end power is gone like the tubo in not doing all of its job it also looks like my fual filer as been replaced with one off a diff year it the bracket is biger and it dont fit its got a tyerap holding it on

hmmm...u know what, i had this.

change the fuel filter for a start.

my issue was liek yours, drving along, wack it into third, power on the pedal and it would go, drop, then go, sounded like an auto box changing....??

anyways, could well need the turbo checking, im not sure how adjustable they are but there is a little "rod", and its like a long screw. shoudl see a mrk on the end to check its in the right position.. is it??

Get in contact with " cncfabs " & or any local breakers to get the proper filter housing :thumbs

Put a new filter on filled to the brim with diesel :thumbs

Hopefully that will sort it :thumbs

Mine hasnt got a screw on the side so i guess that air locks in the fueling clear themselves :nenau

On mine the little filter is in the banjo not actually in the top of the pump like on some engines I have worked on.

ok ive just had the fuel filter off and it had loads of dirt in it and stuff but now it will not re prime the pump will not go hard and the car will no longer run i have filled the filter with fuel as well before i put it on :nenau:nenau:nenau

probably diaphram on the primer split ... common fault

Do you turn the ignition on when you are priming.....just a thought

Ya got a blockage somewhere...
If you can get it started, once runing, crack each injector off & retighten 1 by 1 to make sure the diesels getting to all of them...
Keep pumping that primer, they can be a bitch sometimes...

No fuel will come out (apart from the filter) as nothings pulling it through :thumbs

Back to the mini filter (banjo filter) it is hard to see, have you wacked a long thin piece of wire down there with a little bend at the end :thumbs
