I have a 1995 Terrano with Auto free wheeling hubs. When I engage 4H or $L i have no drive to the front wheels.
I have stripped both Auto hubs & both appear to be OK with nothing broken or missing.
When I engage 2 wheel drive & turn the front prop shaft the drivers side front drive shaft turns & locks but the passenger side keeps turning, does this indicate a problem with the near side auto hub?:nenau

Hi Graham, I'm pretty convinced that you have a problem with one of the hubs there. I would say that the passenger side sounds like the culprit. Did you check the item called Brake A, do a search as this has come up 100's of times before and a page from the manual is nearly allways posted. It's the bit with the lugs that crack and snap off, sometimes leave most of it on but the important seems to break off so it can look as if it's OK. In the Downloads Section within Quick Links there is a workshop showing you how to strip and clean the hubs which is a good place to start.

Thanks for the info Jim, I'll have a closer look at the left hand hub.

Stripped the auto hub and found no obvious wear or damage. I replaced the Brakes A & B and I'm back driving all 4 wheels.

Thanks for all the help and advice.
