Two people i no have run this fuel and it has knackerd there pumps up One has a ford ranger the other terrano. When the pumps were stripped they looked like they had been running on water :doh Have run mine on cooking oil from time to time 50/50 and thats fine. but would not run that all the time its to clean. not good for the engine. Myself i am all for cheap fuels etc but will give biofuel a mis. Everybody to there own.

I've been running mine on nearly neat oil for 6 months now and no probs. I did change the filter after the first few weeks of the stuff, but since then alls well:sly I was only on about 20% diesel when we were at - 15

what the proble with the pumps.. some can cope some cant.

Tbh I cant remember where it was stamped but I did spot it (not quite mad enough to do it by trial and error :D )

I cant remeber if its Lucas thats no good and bosch ok or the other way round. Whatever mine was ok :D

sorry to revive an old post, try vegetableoildiesel.co.uk for (free) list of what will work and what won't.
Basically Lucas pumps are bad, and Bosch/Denso pumps are good.
Having said that I ran my old TD Vectra/Lucas pump on 20% SVO and it was great. I think it's the moisture in WVO that knackers Lucas pumps.
Haven't tried it on the Terrano yet as I need to use up the old fuel first. It came from a farm and I can't run a proper test or get a proper result if I don't know what's in the tank already.

Given the age on yours M8 (Mk1 like mine) they'll run on anything :thumbs :sly :naughty :D :thumbs

i keep reading these vegi oil posts and im going to throw some in the tank.:thumb2 the thing is what can go wrong? is it just the patrol fuel pump what will die or can it be more serious? how much will another one cost if i kill it:augie:augie

just going to slide under to see if its a bosh then off to morrisons...... it is underneath at the back isnt it?...

it may even be the local differences in the quality of the fuel, as basically, you dont know what oil it was, how old is was, what had been cooked in it, how much methanol was added and removed, how much moisture is in it, who brewed it up, nothing. It is too inconsistent to consider in my opinion.

Bio fuel made from new oil by a reputable company then maybe, but then it would cost more that diesel probably

they all tell you the old story of the first diesel being made to run on peanut poil, but that was a long time aga ad that engine I doubt had many simmilariies with the one under the bonnet of a T2

If i were going to experiment it would be SVO for me :thumbs

but unsure where the fuel pump is to check the make:augie so im going to have to make loads of chips:lol

well it's what veg oil was made for and you wont be short of help eating them :thumbs

as we are discusing running cars on SVO has anyone considerd cooking chips in diesel, just to see how it runs? would I need to modify the deep fat fryer? would it ruin the seals?

apparently the first deep fat fryers were run on coal so it must be possible :lol
