Does anyone have any idea of Nissan OE price for a steering idler as I need one and wanted to compare after market prices, is there an online site to look at prices as per when I had my BMW M3 I could look on line before contacting BMW plus it was handy to quote them the part number.

Mod a steering box instead

Or cncfabs might have one as I got mine off him

I am thinking of making a strengthening plate for the original idler rather than making the steering box mod. Is it easy enough to modify a steering box for that type of conversion?
Have many people done the steering box mod that you know of and I don't suppose there is a step by step guide?

I don't think the Milner ones will be as good as Nissan ones as after market things seem to be not as beasty, plus my Milner anti roll bar bushes are forever squeaking on my Terrano and I have to regrease them every 2 months and you get what you pay for.
I have just had a look at makeitfits phhotobucket pictures, looks retentively easy to understand what he has done.I think I will pm him. :)

Yep, the pictures are in his photo bucket

I've got a box I picked up for £15 just not got around to doing anything yet

I do a std steering idler strengthening brace if you want a cheap fix. It's ok fo r up to 31s I'd say.
Don't forget to get some new bushes.
£20 plus post :D
I'll find a pic in a bit :thumbs

Well out of desperation I bought a Milner steering idler last week because I was all up for jumping on the boat and heading for the mainland to by an engine for my Chevette. I thought I would get it sent asap get it fitted then jump on the boat job done, but no the poorly made peace of metal arrived so I tried fitting it but non of the holes even line up not even two of the three.
And I said to myself I wouldn't purchase anything off them again and now I am going to stick to my word this time. :surrender

Ring them up, I am sure they will sort it. Not many other places to go for new stuff.

But I dare say the part will fit, I am feeling flush this week just bought a 260 horse Honda S2000 engine on throttle bodies for my Chevette .
As my old man says a fool and his money are easly parted..:doh

I got mine from milners no long ago jan i think & had no problem fitting it. give them a phone as there is 2 on the site l/h & r/h one may of been sent out accidentally or been labeled wrong and your anti roll bar shouldn't be squeaking or need greased( i got my arb poly bushes from milners too last yr & still good. just my front & rear drop links got from milners & ebay that keep going.

Yes but if you spoke to milner they will sort it. Either a full refund or a new part.

No point complaining without ringing the supplier to see what they will do, Mistakes happen.

LH RH should make no difference the holes are the same on both sides of the chassis.
I do have one remaining idler strengthener if you'd like to part with a bit more of your dosh :sly

I'll give them a shout tomorrow to see what they say, they have always been good in the past just the last few times I have bought stuff from them the quality isn't good (cheap) even.
I have greased the anti roll bar twice with proper poly grease, maybe with doing lots of lanes it don't stay around for long, WD40 stops it for a bit.

thats the type of grease poly grease or moly grease is whats on the tin :doh double check your bolts are tight & check your drop links. or if its the rear just take it off, i personally wouldn't advise the front being off tho cos its erm...a bit wobbly :lol

Well I was surprised that Nissan were a load more expensive than I thought, I was thinking 3 times the price of Milner but it was £140 something plus vat !!
Milner said they get 3 or 4 people a year saying that the idlers they sell don't fit and they sell about 300 a year, the guy said to just file the hole out a bit, I said to him not even 2 of the holes line up and if I did file the hole there wouldn't be enough meat to hold it on. The guy said he would give me a refund which is what I expected him to say. Steering box mod coming up now that I don't have any trips coming up.
