I'm sure this is a voltage driven Rev counter as opposed to the old cable ones.

It is fairly easy to remove the complete clock pod to get in there and make sure all the connections are firmly connected.

At the end of the day if it is not working it is no big deal unless you have a very heavy right foot and live near the Red line most of the time.
