Has any member who owns a patrol got any HORROR STORYS to tell had a look at one on sunday its a Gr Se touring 1999 5 door 67000 on clock 1 owner fmdsh mint condition asking £5990 good price or bad? also m.p.g 1 around town 2 motorway 3 towing a caravan at 1750 kgs

Hi

I take it being a 1999 its a 2.8 TD6?

There are no horror stories that I've heard with that engine other than cambelt failing if not changed at correct intervals. There was a problem with the early 3.0Td patrols.

What I did notice when changing from my T2 to a Patrol 2.8 is the gearing is totally different and the 6 cylinder engine is much smoother.

MPG 8O you will be getting about the same as your Mav  I get around 20mpg when towing my 1500kg van

I also found when I 1st got mine that the engine needs revs to get going, if you don't keep the rpm up it feels gutless when towing. I've had a diesel performance tuning box fitted which gives 30bhp and the lowdown grunt is much better when towing and the mpg has not suffered.

Price  a car is only worth what your willing to pay. It looks to have low mileage, £6k for a 9 year old car. I've seen massive price differences on Patrols, dealers always want top money and some private sellers just want to get shot of them. I've also seen some on ebay in the classified adds for over 6 months 8O.
