well I've put nealy a 1000 miles on my new (to us) Pathfinder...... 500 with the caravan on.....thoughts..... awesome!

Keep in mind I've come to the '08 Pathfinder from a '03 Range Rover Vogue. I found the Pathfinder a very capable tow vehicle despite the Rangie TD6 being slightly more powerful on paper I couldn't tell and the Pathfinder was not wanting. That said the Rangie was auto and my Pathfinder is manual so I guess that will give a little power back otherwise lost in the drivetrain.. oh and the fact the Range Rover was 5 years older. OK the trim isn't quite as plush and the car is a little lower in the haunches but it really is splitting hairs to part the overall outcome. The Birdview Satnav was a great improvement over the BWM style MKIV sat nav in the Rangie... graphics left no doubt at motorway intersections.. in fact it was only let down by the lack of Postcode input which I would have hoped an '08 car would have as a basic element of the sat nav.

The leather trim is neat and functional as opposed to luxurious but with a family and 2 dogs to add may be thats all I need! Speaking of family.. the third row seats were a GODSEND and you could actually have been mistaken for believing that the kids weren't there but for the odd swapping of DVD's and the comments about the miles left (from the sat nav screen so no "Are we nealry there yet?")... No "Stop looking out of my window"... or "He's on my space" Three nippers nicely spaced out - something even the capacious back seat of the previous Rangie couldn't provide. Now the Landrover purists (and I include myself in that to a degree) would say ah.. but what about the Discovery!... Well I looked at several.. and for the Top Spec HSE (My Pathfinder is the Mammouth sport adventure so pretty packed out) I found I'd have ended up spending £5000 more to get a ex smokers car three years older than the path finder with an extra 20,000 miles on the clock.. and that was after alot of shopping around. Well Landrover - I'm sorry but no.. no more burning cash. todays car ticks the boxes I need to be ticked and the cost of maintainance of the last Range Rover to keep it mint has left me somewhat cautious to say the least... hence hello Nissan! I still have 2 Landrovers but more old school and basic.

What would I change if I could... Low box in 2wd would be good.. then again I should read the manual.. but it would have saved much clutching when we went through Longleat safari park.

I've also got a wet patch :naughty though that is clearly an issue with the Aircon in the passenger footwell.. anyone shed any light on why this is so? The rubber dohnut / grommet that goes through the firewall is saturated along with the carpet... looks from the engine side like its just a drain.. but it seems pourous.. anyone?

nice to read you are so pleased with your Nissan. They are great cars!

As for your leak...im not 100% sure with Pathfinders TBH, but are you SURe its AirCon and not the heater matrix??

Yeah that was my fear when I started prodding about.. but the pipe that the large sponge grommet covers definately looks like some kind of drain.. I'll probe further tomorrow.. if it starts to look expensive It'll be back in to the dealers to rectify.

See if this works... here it is down at Newquay.. actually Pentire.. On the Carpark peeping over towards Crantock Beach.

Got to love google! The following is a quote from Hillbillyjake from "thenissanpath" just thought I'd post it here incase any one else wonders why they have a cold wet patch :lol.. looks like a rubber extension is the way to go.

"The wet floor is from the drain for the air conditioner. it does not poke through the firewall far enough. if you look up from under the truck on the passenger side you will see the drain hose. if you pop it off of the firewall you will see what looks like a plastic nipple poking through. you can add a piece of rubber to extend it out about an inch so it drains into the tube and not into the truck."

Gorgeous car mate, me and the Mrs may be looking to get one of them after we get married next year and my Terrano will become my big boys toy and not my main driving car :)

in my view gav, dont spend on the wedding. just get the pathfinder and save all the agro!
