nissan, big ugly tape player type stereo thingy!

I took the big (double din?) tape player from one T2 today - it's the one with a built in hazard warning switch - and put it in another, in now comes up SECURITY on the display, any ideas? I could do with making it work ASAP.

Not sure about t2 but some cars the radio is coded to ecu and cannot be swapped unless done at main dealer i did notice on those that they have nats printed on the radio so maybe they are coded to ecu

yes it has 'nats' printed on it :nenau

The manual says if it comes up "secure" its a dealer reset job as it has to be matched to the ecu, not sure if there is a work around.
You could always get an aftermarket radio and make a surround.

that could be y my aftermarket doesn't even power up?

More likely a wire the wrong way around or a fuse blown or duff stereo as the NATS stuff doesnt apply to aftermarket stereos you dont use the wires, just standard power and speaker wires.

no, as the aftermarket stereo i put back in the 2004 works fine. I think my problem is just interrupting the power from the original stereo and them plugging it in a different T2. The dealer will sort it for £44.50 or about £30 for a stereo company to do it. Seems a lot when i can get a new stereo for about £50 - it's the flipping in hazard switch that causes all the trouble :doh

you're a bit far away or i would :lol i just didn't bother its still rolling about the car somewhere cos the original works fine n i have tapes :augie
