hi my nissan has for sme reason issuing blue smoke when i throttle up to move and when ime stationary and put my foot down, is this going to be an expensive fault to put right thanks, mike boulton

As Fez said, we need more infor to go on first. Is it making any noise that it should not?

wow he had a reply within 4 minutes that's good, but why hasn't he come back with the info.:nenau

We need to know more about the vehicle, but we could guess:doh

The most popular Nissan on this site with the most queries is the Nissan Terrano 2.7 tdi with intercooler.

So how close am I?

If it is this vehicle then the fault is ....

Could be a cheap and easy fix.
The most expensive option is to scrap it and buy another one.

I recon the answer lies between the two options above, but that would be yet another guess.:augie:augie

blue smoke means oil ( and i dont mean diesel ) is being burnt as far as im aware

Valve stem, turbo leakage, oil blowback, but the smoke might not be blue as such.

What grade engine oil is in it, some sites recommend 5/30 this is far too thin.
10/40 or 15/40 semi synthetic or mineral are fine.

There are several on here that use full synthetic, but others don't recommend as they can burn oil and produce blue smoke.... hmmmm

Try 15/40 mineral and if it still burns oil, could be something else.
But I would wait for a few other ideas first as this is only my opinion.

good luck, and welcome to the site.

best regards,
Rustic
