Well as you may know I have been getting the car ready for MOT and it has had over 500 quid spent getting it up to speed, so to speak. However when the mechanic left my car back last night he had bad news. Basically the last garage had over tightened the sump plug and wrecked the thread. The mechanic said he found plumbers tape in the used oil which must have stopped the leak but now completely shot. He said that he put sealant on it to get it through the MOT which it did.

So now I need a new sump and plug. My truck is the 2.7TDI, 2001 model. Anyone know if other years sumps will fit as well? I located one at a breakers but they couldnt tell me the year, just that it was a 2.7TDI.

Also does anyone know if there is a sump gasket on the T2? - Mechanic said that he didnt know if it had one or not but that if it did then I should get one.

Any replies most welcome.

Cheers
Lee

I was about to email you thinking you had got us mixed up but I was too polite:).

I have got it sorted now. Had to buy a sump from the breakers yard - 50 quid to sort it.

Thanks for the replies but I still dont know what a helicoil is?
