Hi guys,
Having fitted a full set (5) of Hankook Dynapro ATM tyres, when I got the T2, I find that I now have to replace the front right tyre. Over here, driving on the 'wrong' side of the road, on terrible side roads, you have to eat a lot of uneven road edges to avoid the centre of the road French drivers, which eats the outer edge of your rubber (normal, or so I am told by the CT chappie).....:nenau
So, I scratch around the tyre fitters here in Swansea (here for a short while) for a replacement tyre.........no joy at all......end up ringing Hankook, who tell me they have stopped manufacture of this tyre.......not good news for me......someone suggests fleabay......good idea, I find a new one, obtained it, and will get it fitted here when I'm back in March ( rotating rubber around to get best use of 2 x new on rear, 2 x part worn from rear to front, 1x part worn as spare).
After that I will, if I keep her, have to go for another manufacturer, Goodrich or another readily available all terrain.

Thing is when I retire next year, I'm not going to need a workhorse/tractor.......so do I keep her as a family car, as SWMBO has a little Renault...... :nenau

Or do I keep a really comfortable, reliable, solid, useful in even a little bit of snow, lowish tax.......and it will carry all the fishing/camera/walking gear........

Oh God I'm convincing myself to keep it.......don't tell her indoors yet.... :doh

Nothing similar from Hankook then ?

I recently put a new battery on my BMW it was branded by Hankook with a 4 year warranty!

They either do one which is incredibly aggressive, like my old Firestone SAT's or very bland tarmac tread for 'SUV's'......nothing it seems similar to the Dynapto ATM's.......:thumb2

Anyway, by the time they are worn, I'm sure I will find a suitable alternative ( now implies that I mean to keep her doesn't it........:thumbs:augie)

I convinced myself to keep mine over 21 years ago, and it might come as a surprise to some... that I still have it lol

Long Car Ownership

21 years of ownership is quite impressive my personal record is currently at 14 years for our Merc.

Back in 1974 I was working as a car salesman for an Opel Dealership on Derby Street Burton on Trent. (Long gone showroom sold to Quicksave demolished about 6 years ago to build a new Lidl)

I digress an Old boy came into the showroom (about my age now lol) and told me he wanted to buy a new car that would last him for the rest of his driving days. His budget was around £1200 can't remember his trade in.

I was running an Opel Kadette 2 door Special Edition Model with Rostyle Wheels as a demonstrator it was the same floor pan as the new "Vauxhall Chevette" but with a square front rather than the droop front. It was bright red and within his budget having Black Tex Trim. I sold him the Opel it's VRM was SFA108M he paid extra for Ziebart Rust Proofing Treatment.

Fast forward to 1984 and in Derby I saw SFA108M it now had two well rusted front wings with badly faded paintwork with the same bloke driving it! The vehicle not now shown on DVLA site often wondered who lasted the longest.

VRM error it was PFA108M

Just re-checked DVLA its still on database last taxed in 1995!
