ok chaps

decided I want to start this summers project of fitting my Mistral Wing Mirrors (electric folding) to my Maverick.

now I fully expected there to be some wiring differences, so today I took a quick look. The connectors on the mirrors are the same fitting, so thats great, but of course the switch itself has two extra wires. These come from the open/close button on the mistral device. My problem is, I know nothing about electronics, so I wonder if anyone can advise me, how do I wire in these two extra wires? Looking at the passenger wing mirror, there are the same NUMBER of wires, just different colours, I havent check drivers side but I expect it to be the same maybe?

Bugger. If we lived closer to each other I'd of wired them in for you:doh can you put a pic of the connectors up?

cheers Ryan!

I will do some pics tomorrow, I appreciate the help. I did manage to isolate the two "extra" wires on the switch, I just need to check the drivers side now to see if the wires/connector are the same....

I dont know, you will travel all the way to the midlans to drive round the lanes but you wont travel to help a member fit some mirrors, :augie:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

oh...one other problem....my orginal switch connector WONT fit into the new one....so I will have to re wire it somehow...i think...???

pics tomorrow to explain.

Yes but I've discovered there's some good lanes up here. There like mountain tracks. And there's some woodland trails too:thumb2

ok, heres some pics

plugging this directly into my current setup allows me to move the mirrors up and left only using my switch....

isolated the two "extra" wires that control the open/close switch for the mirrors, other wise there is the same number of wires going form the switch compared to my existing one.

That looks an arse to do:doh I'm guessing the mistral swich connector is differant to mavericks? If the mistral has elecy mirrors?

told ya mate , pop down and take a peek at mine ( mirrors :lol )

yes, switch plugs are different to accomodate the two extra wires. I can only assume one is feed, and the other goes off to the other mirror??

sounds plausible , because the one switch makes both mirrors fold

i think i will probably have to call upon Jim for help!

my worry is I cant test the switch withthe mirrors through my existing wiring, so I dont know if the mirrors will actually work in all directions when adjusted...

You know I'll be there for you Clivvy :lol:lol

What we need to do is pop a circuit tester or multi meter on to some working mirror's and see what the wires do. It may be that they both take a live, one to fold and the other to unfold. No problem sorting the other wires from the sound of it and soldering your new connector on. We can make notes and pic's so there's the info for others then too.

take a look at my mirrors or sheilas mirrors with a multimeter

cheers JIm!! I was hoping you'd say something like this, I was a little worried about how to get all the wires into the correct place on the new switch!!

I cant wait to have a go mate. I have a soldering iron too!
