Hi all just paid my £££ and joined the club. Only bought a 2005 Terrano a couple of weeks ago mainly for towing the old caravan and my gardening trailer. I had a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.5 V6 before but the Terrano is just streets ahead.

welcome to the club, lots uf useful help and advice on here :thumb2

good morning and welcome!

I have had a few GV's (and T2's) and i allways found the 2.5 V6 a little disappointing (the same with the previous 2.0 V6) the best of them was the 2.0 16v petrol engine! we have had several of those! in face we have a nice shiny new one now :thumb2

but i have a filthy muddy T2 as well! :naughty

I had the 1.6, 16valve Vitara, and it was wonderful, towed a dream, and boy did we stick some stuff on the back of it, a lot of it, nowhere within the legal limits when we used it on the farm. I loved it off road, as even in it's standard form, just proper tyres, it was very capable in everything I ever asked of it. I did 240K miles in 3 and a half years, and was very sorry to see it go, but as it was also my company car, and it was just getting to the time when things were starting to fail, I had no choice.

I then had the 2.0 turbo diesel GV, and was very let down by it, not a patch on the old 1.6. It had terrible turbo lag, and was a lot harder to drive around town, as the pull away was so slow, and even worse if you put any load on the back. When the cylinder head split at 61K, it was the last straw, and it went.

Only had the SJ's as off-roader only cars since then.

I love the T2, and it is amazingly capable, but I am still thinking of maybe getting a cheap old short wheel base Vitara as a toy to off road, as it is so much easier and cheaper to get the toys for. I am capable of fitting things, but do not have the ability to fabricate them, or pay money to get them made.

I did like the GV V6 had it for 7 years just a bit to light and not powerful enough for the caravan.

Welcome to the club, another 3.0l owner, good choice :thumb2:thumb2

Never done any off roading Rik, do you think I would get my lovely new Terrano dirty?:D

I would not recommend a road going car, although many do take them, but very limited on what you can do, have a look at some of my threads re Slindon & Boxgrove, no I was suggesting you co drive with me one day, we could meet at some place on the A27 meets are every 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, Rick
