Having just retired my 2.7TD 3dr. @ 193k mls. due to tin worm, I now have a shiny 'S' reg 2.4petrol 5dr with only 115k on the clock.
Not being familiar with the KA24E engine, could anybody comment on the following:
-the handbook says there is an air filter inside the plenum chamber which sits on top of the air meter assembly. The plenum appears to be retained by two butterfly nuts but having removed these it still does not come off. I am reluctant to use too much force - are there other fixings to be removed?
-what is the least difficult way of getting to the oil filter?
-any points to watch on this engine?
cheers
Peter

this is the workshop manual for your engine .. its also for the 3 litre , so just look for ka24e sections

Hi briggie,
I already have the manual but thanks anyway. I can only see the two butterfly nuts on the exploded drawing in the manual but, as I said, having removed these the plenum doesn't budge. It may just be that the seal between the plenum and the air meter body is stuck but I would like confirmation that there aren't other fixings which I have missed before I get in there and apply some real force.
cheers
