I got around to fitting better led courtesy lights in the car today. One in the roof over the boot area, and a second in the extension brake light that shines down on the rear shelf when it folded down for cooking etc.

Thems great, the one on the brake light looks almost factory. Have you done some filling and sanding?
What’s the black round thing?

And finally how did you fasten those curtains up at the windows?

Cheers...

So many questions!!!
Yes, I originally fitted a caravan spot light there, which has a round base, but it looked so stuck on, so I set to with the filler, and rounded off the joins. The trouble was, the light was not very bright, and too focused, so this is MK II...

The black round thing its the inside of the Flettner rotor, which along with a pipe connected under my seat to the air vent system, helps to keep the back of the car nice and cool for the ferrets.

For the curtains, I fitted a bit of caravan awning rail to the top and bottom of the window, and then sewed a length of the awning piping to the top and bottom of the material. I did them not long after I got the car, as it makes it harder to see into the boot, and again keeps the rear of the car cooler for the ferrets. Being in awning rail, you can slide them out when you don't want them, but since fitting them, the only time I ever take them out is to clean the windows, or when I have had the side panels off to do something... I have a couple of these window socks that slip over the rear doors, so again they provide shade, and as the window is between the fabric, you can open them to get fresh air, but don't get a draft.

Does that rotor thing make much noise? Thinking about similar for the back of the wifes truck for the dog.

Like you idea of the awning rail, when I sleep in the truck I struggle to find a nice way of fitting blinds on the windows.

the rotor makes no real noise at all.... if you are parked up on a windy night, and it is very quite, there is a very slight rumble from it, but you have to listen out for it.... If you were sleeping in the back, you could always stick a bit of wood or something on it to stop it spinning, but personally, it would not worry me. It uses the same bearings as skateboards, which are designed for high speed and loading, so incredibly smooth running.

The blind idea works perfectly, as having the awing guide top and bottom, they hang at the same angle as the window. I used some off cuts I had to the top is aluminium, and the bottom plastic, but you can pick up the plastic stuff pretty cheaply from caravan places and it would work fine. The piping you can get off of ebay very cheaply and to be honest, as it is straight, you could just glue it to the fabric, bit I did stitch mine.

Looks really well organised & neat

Nice touches you must have plenty of youthful "roundtuits" lol.

That looks good fella :thumb2

The strip of led lights that I can see, look similar to what I used for extra reverse lights.

I laughed at the hacksaw next to the first aid kit, is that for amputations :lol

Lol.. you never know...

Its a bow saw as well, handy when you get to small trees or branches blocking the track.

Those Led strips are great, I have them on both cars, with a second one under the load cover so you can stiĺl see under there at night without having to open it.

Tidy work, i love a vehicle that's tailored to its use.

Thank you..

Its scary just how many mods you make to them over the years. Yet its still not finished.

I made a note of all the mods I have made to the caravan, and it runs to 3 pages in Word!
