Been away with work. Wife rings there is oil on the drive. O right er can not see it tilll weekend. Pop to the local garage i said let themm have a look. I will sort it at weekend if not a badd job  Phone call later. The garage says the rear crank seal has gone  That is why the oil is on the drive they say it is leaking in between gearbox and engine. :doh Right i say will have to do it at weekend. So i order seal £30 And as i have the box out would be a fool not to put a clutch in so order that £180. Anyway alll week with this spinning in my head. Got home friday yes all oil over drive :doh nice. So i thought will just have a look myself before i go and lay out £200. got them there overalls on and got rooting. Cranks seal you say. Well put it this way guys&gals just saved myself £200 plus it was the spill pipe that goes on the pump from first injector split fuel running down the engine taking all the crap with it and that is why it looked oiley ALLWAY PAYS TO LOOK YOURSELF

sounds like the garage need a kick up the....

taken me nearly 2 years to find a good mech in this area, and he happens to live opposite me. the only prob being hes that busy getting anything done takes a week and involves doing the work at night, this week midnight on weds!! b4 he carried on fixing a broken 525tds estate - loverley car but has apparently a stupid oil filter in turbo oil pipe that never gets changed = why bmw oil burners blow turbos so often.
