new clutch help?

I have replaced the clutch in my terrano 2003, put everything back together fine, terrano starts okay and runs fine, but the problem is i cannot change gear unless i switch my ignition off. can someone please help me out here.

The clutch cant be clearing properly, have you got a good pedal stroke (pressure all the way down)? it may need bleeding.

does this make any difference as I have a hydraulic clutch

Yes it will.

Also is it possible you put the plate in the wrong way around? This can cause the same problem.

looking at an r51 manual last night, i think it may be possible i put the withdrawal lever in the wrong way, also if i remember my withdrawal lever does not have a retainer clip, it looks like a newer version. also i don't seem to have a holder spring for my release bearing, where would i get one of these.
