Had a chance in this milder weather to pop out and have a look round the truck. Started off by fitting the new front Anti-Roll bar I got off of Rick, and the new Rose Drop links from BigBunny.

When I took the old bar off, I found that the Anti-roll bar had worn away badly where the N/S drop link bolts through, and only had about 2mm of metal left before it would have worn right through.

Anyway, everything fitted perfectly, and I am now very happy things are as they should be.

That's the last time they will look that shiny, all greased up now.

Oh and the best bit, I actually remembered to grease the steering stops while doing it, so no more granching when I accidentally hit full lock.

Next I decided to re-index the N/S front suspension, I had done the drivers side not long after I got the car, as it was against the stop, with front very low, but there was enough on the passenger side to bring her up level then. Now, after the suspension lift, the N/S was wound right up to the end of the thread, and was still not quite level. Some jobs should be easy, but this was not to be. Firstly, the circlip was in the wrong groove, it was in the one closest to the cross bar, which made it very hard to remove. I then as mentioned in the Workshop download, marked the front of the torsion bar, to aid me in turning it correctly... forgetting that last time I did it, it was not the front that came apart, but the bit where the adjuster is. Because of this, again, I had not marked the right end... We need Banshee to amend the workshop download to say to mark both ends, just in case.

Anyway, the car is now nice and level, and knock/rattle free at the front end. I still have the Bong at the back, but I ran out of daylight, to look any further into that, so finished the day doing a bit of tidying in the garage.

Banshee will not be pleased you have his bong in your truck :lol

Excellent work sir, I have these on mine too, one tip is regular greasing as there is no effective chamber inside of them :thumb2

They sure are heavy duty though :sly

I wish he would come and find the bloody thing, He's welcome to it back...:lol:lol

I mounted them so the nipple is at the front, so I only have to turn the steering onto full lock, and can get to them with out having to do anything extra.

Not so sure the rear ones will be quite so easy to do though.:doh

Yes I think mine face forwards if I remember rightly. Why don't you remove the rear and see how it feels, I was very worried with the idea, 10 mins of driving I never looked back :sly

Nah... I like to belt mine round bends too much....

The slip off the M26 onto the A21 has 2 lanes and does a full 270 degrees getting gradually tighter as you go round it... I (and Suz for that matter) take great delight in making Beemer (usually) drivers wet their selves when they try to over take me on it. :doh

Not only that but having once had a caravan snake out of control on the Motorway, when we had a slow puncture in the rear tyre of one of the Volvo's, and felt the way it threw the car all over the road, I would never risk putting any trailer on the back with out it now. That was only the second time in my life, where I nearly needed a change of underwear.:nenau

Alex has been down twice now since fitting these joints, both times I noticed rust marks on the bolt to the arb tightend up as tight as could be but not sure they will last, also will need greasing regular greasing like once a month if wading much more, Rick

I used stainless nuts and bolts on mine when I made this mod :thumb2

must admit did not check for stainless or plated, but point was that they they were loose, twice, tightend real tight last visit, so time will tell, rust would have been from ARB if stainless, Rick

Everything comes loose on alex's truck! They are nylocs so I'm unsure as to why they should come loose they are under no radial forces as the bolt can turn with the rose joint? Maybe they were not fitted correctly? I supply a spring washer too! All stainless is fine till the thread picks up and wont budge been their before trying to hack of stainless bolts its not fun! They look great by the way Clive.

The secret with all stainless nuts and bolts to avoid pick up is they should be two different grades then it is not supposed to happen other than that grease but not sure what type, Rick

same here and I put locktight on the thread up into the rose joint.
bolt through the arb is held on with a nyloc nut.
