Skodas now come with a lifetime under body protection, but always best to check it for chips etc
Skodas now have great street cred, and prices have generally started to increase over the last few years.
In Dec last year we bought a new a yeti Greenline, not the 4x4 one as we wanted the better fuel economy, these are well buit cars as indeed are all the range.

Do you have a spare wheel or the gunge repair kit?

I nearly bought a 2 1/2 year old Roomster Greenline but ended up buying this for not a great deal more. Found the Greenline had a kind of pause between pressing the pedal and something actually happening.

Our Greenline has the 1.6 Hdi 105 hp engine, so is quite responsive, but it has taken a while for the engine to loosen up, at first it struggled to get in the top 40s mpg But now with 4500 miles on the clock it easily returns 52+ mpg with the same driving style.
I am told it will be even better after 12k.

Ahh different engine to the Roomster Greenline, thats a 1.2tdi with 3 pots.
Have you been on any of the Skoda forums? Still not a patch on this one.

I'm on the Briskoda one, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/index.php?

and the Yeti owners, and they only seem to discuss all things Skoda... it is not a place you could ask a question like which computer is best, or what socks are best.
There is some useful information, but not a place that I could single out any particular member like we do on here.
This is still the greatest forum.:thumb2

Glad you have it at very long last:thumb2 remember let the turbo cool down before switching the engine off to gain some extra life out of it:augie

It's OK Alex, I've ordered the scaffolding so that I can have proper bumpers on it. :lol:nenau:lol

I'm doing around 15k a year so with the no mot and repair bills for 3 years and cheaper tax we should save money in the long run.

Oh my god your up early, can't sleep due to new motor? :naughty

That is a sweet looking little motor, being a small estate car really, very practical....:thumb2

Isn't it strange....we all (or nearly all) have big thumping 4x4's, with all that goes with it, but we all still appreciate the merits of economy in running smallish practical cars; low on tax, fuel costs etc.

Common sense is NOT dead, but we just like the lift to the soul, that getting off road gives you, feeling a bit of wheel spin, twitch on the back end, branches whipping against the screen, the low growl of a big diesel in low gear........the open spaces.......lovely.

I 100% agree with that, that's why we still have the Mav.
