i think its the tunit box thats the better one

you can up the boost on the turbo as well as increase the fueling i think it would be wise to ask makitfit extreme and adz as they have uped their power

the best way is to go to the specialists and have it mapped properly

thanks for the fast reply but dont think the ecu in the terrano can not be just remaped think it needs a whole new ecu might be wrong if i am not it will be too expensive for me thats y i was looking at the tunning boxs.

a k+n induction kit will give you a bit more ooomph

already got the induction kit but it is now housed in the old air box to protect from the hot engine or would it be better out of the airbox:nenau

if its the cone it need to be out the airbox and add a cold feed pipe using some felxi aluminum tube from the intercooler scoop or under or to the side the radiator to feed constant cool air

if is the pannel filter then the filter box if fine and you could add a cold air feed from the same places

I tried to squeeze more out of my T2. K&N Im sure helped (induction kit) but no way was it a wow sort of thing.

The thing that made the difference was the psi chip. That does put a smile on your face :D

The psi's dont seem to that widely available (old model maybe :nenau ) but I do recall Lacroupe fitting a tunit around the same time and he was chuffed with that too :thumb2

drop him a pm or whatever for details :D

tunit is the better one to go for.. more flexable.

The induction kit works best out of the airbox....inside the airbox its just a replacement filter.

You'll hear a few naysayers but they are wrong and its good for about 5bhp and a definite 2-3mpg improvement in fuel consumption....pays for itself in a few tankfuls of juice so a no-brainer. Used them on all four of my T2s.

That thing is NOT the Tunit nor is it from Tunit. They do sell refurbs on eBay around that price but they often don't mention that it fits the Terrano/Maverick....its a Tunit II that you want......its gives around 20-25bhp and has an adjustment screw (unlike other types) that lets you tune for economy OR power as well as tweaking it for fuel types (mine benefits from resetting if I run SVO mix for example).

This looks like a Tunit II but you will need to check with the seller and get a wiring diagram from Tunit.

There aren't any other TIIs on ebay at the mo but worth ringing Tunit themselves to see what they've got.....highly recommended piece of kit.

Firstly give the truck a stage 0 tune- air filter, fuel filter, blow up the tyres etc and clean the maf at least.

A tunit / psi box will more than likely give you enough oomph to make lugging your 'van fine. They do what they say on the box, cheap but effective, but not exactly very refined. On a good truck ~145bhp and 30% more torque..

A remap is the proper way to do it. 2000-on OBD trucks are remappable over the diagnostic port. If your ecu is behind the heater/ radio then it is the later ecu (edc 15c2)

Do NOT raise boost over the stock 12psi, as regards the air filter a naked K&N will loose you hp due to the hot air injested. A K&N in a modded airbox and cold air feed improves matter also. and should be really done in conjunction with a remap. Don't forget the intercooler fan too.

cant fit a tunit / k+n induction kit on a 1995 td ..... or can you ?:naughty

I'm only going to argue with the last one....I might agree at very low speed but at anything more theres a healthy enough flow of cold air...all I can say its, while the improvement isn't what you'd call startling, it is noticeable...as evidenced by a 10% improvement in fuel economy.....

As regards the intercooler fan, again it might have some modest benefit at low speed but at normal speed its never going to improve on a 50-60mph gale through the bonnet vent is it? In fact it soon gets in the way and most people I have seen on here that have fitted one, especially for towing, have ended up removing it because it reduces efficiency and causes overheating.....:nenau

What is the difference between a remap and a powerbox type addition (not the cheap 25p resistor type that simply enrich, more the tunit types) in terms of adjusting ecu ?

:nenau

Cost seems similar and results seem similar

i have a2004 baileys ranger 510/4 fully loaded it weighs bout 1247kg then the car has 3 people in with 3 bikes on back and quite abit of other kit in the boot with the dog :D

You will notice a difference. We tow a Bailey Limousin cant remember the fully laden but its somewhere near 1500kg. In standard other than k&n the T2 managed it fine, but with the psi it was a lot more fun :thumb2:D:D:D:clap

dont get me wrong it tows the setup ok just looses it too quickly on the hills thats all which is y i want just abit more power and if it runs better mpg when solo bonus i am not the sort of driver that speeds away from light :augie well not all the time :D
