Picked up this today for £60 as it ended and he hadn't managed to sell it so I offered him £60 and he agreed;

My question is does anyone have a template that I can use to cut the wing as I want to fit this tomorrow

Too late now, but might help others in the future, but was the donor car there when you picked it up?
You could have made one from the donor vehicle.

Had already been scrappped :(

I looked on a few sites for you, and one states there is a gasket, you can use for the alignment of the fixing holes, but making that first big hole in such thin metal would worry me.
What type of hole saw will you use ? I would be concerned about snagging and bending the wing!

Don't forget to de-burr and do a good rust treatment, also some waxoyl to slow down the rot around all cut holes and edges.

best regards,
Rustic

Yeah I've had a look and it' doesn't look very fruitful to be honest, I haven't got a gasket with it so where can I get one of those from? Or what Can I make one out of?

I'm going to go gently and give it some support behind what I'm drilling into, as for what drill bit I'm going to use I have no idea :S any suggestions

I'll ensure I de-burr and will be smacking a load of Waxoyl on it :D

Also been considering replacing the metal washers with rubber ones

Chain drill it.
Hard work and labour intensive but only requires a drill, file and patience.

Draw a circle the size of the piping on the wing. With a small drill bit go round the circle making holes all the way around then clean up with a file.

Cheers Gav

Just jigsaw it, tape the bottom of the jigsaw well so it don't scratch

Her's a picture of the snorkel after I picked it up from Wiltshire, what a drive lol good job I'm running free oil

I went down to the workshop at work and they've let me borrow a Starrett Hole Cutter (3 1/2" or 89mm) with an A2 Holesaw Arbor that has a 14" Pilot Drill too :D :clap:clap

Now all I have to do is get down to B&Q after work and replace the metal washers for rubber ones and I'll see if I can make you guys a template and upload it on here :thumb2

I hope not lol, I've seen a lot of people with the Navara D22 ones on here and plus, I saw it attached to his car in the eBay pictures

Just out of interest, does anyone have a picture of this type attached?

Soooooooooooooooo

Last night was hell on earth

Problems started when I removed the wheel arch plastic to unearth a whole kingdom of rust!!!!!! I knew it would be going bad as I had bubbling crawling ever upwards

The hole cutter that I had was way to small, 90mm was more than enough to get the initial part of the intake through the wing but the further it went in the more it swole outwards if that makes sense, I believe I'm going to need something in the region of 120-130mm next time round, after painfully drilling the wing as to not disturb the rust and have half the wing fall way, I lost all interest and got sloppy :(

I managed to get 2 of the holes for the securing bolts completely out and it's only being held on at the moment with 3 bolts

It looks smart and sounds even smarter but my plan of action now is to sand my new wing back to bare metal, drill the holes correctly, get some paint made up and get it sprayed at my mates bodyshop, then before fitting absolutely drown it in Waxoyl to avoid the same happening again in future

But for now I'm driving round with a bent wing that I can now get 4 fingers through :lol:lol

It never rains it pours, nothing is ever, ever, straight forward with a Maverick, but I love it so :p
