Morning all,
Changed the clutch, easy to say but difficult to do, anyway, all done, now my car refuses to start, initially the nats disabled the system, then righted itself as I'd removed the battery for the works.

The car door when opened sets off the alarm until the key goes in the ignition and the hazards stop flashing, when I lock the car, the red led goes crazy and flashes for around 30 seconds before resuming its leisurely 1 second flash so I think all is normal there.................

Questions;
Would a sensor on the gearbox prevent the car from starting? ie, any of those on the bellhousing or gearbox?

Is there any connector that is known to be a problem when removing the gearbox? ie gets in the way and not noticed?

Answers on a postage stamp please...........

Regards

Dave

cheers zippy, should have added, manual box, engine turns over very well......

auto box?

park sensor??
Changed the clutch

Not think this give it away.. :naughty

Have you tryed a reset with the battery off again, had to do this with a car we was working on the other week.

Recheck the crank position sensor connector and location of same.

Did you remove the flywheel?

Did you clean the tip of the sensor inside the bellhousing?

I did clean the sensor but didn't remove it, seemed to be no need.......reconnected the sensor into the 4 pin plug above injector pump, Can this stop the car from starting?

cleaned but not removed............ reconnected 4 pin plug into socket above injector pump..... I've added this thread to my email so I can read via phone but can't reply....... all thoughts welcome tho.

That happend to our old maverick glx when we put a new battery in. We also had to get the radio re coded because it was the standard ford one. We just disconected the alarm and took it to the garrage to get it programed.:thumb2

During cranking, does the tacho needle lift up off the stop?

Without a signal from the CAS, it will not start no.

Was the flywheel removed and refitted?

just to follow up on this, I managed to reset the cpu using a paper clip...... cleared down the faults and reset the unit disconnecting the battery. Reconnected and it started first time..........
