Hi Guy's
Now I got my Maverick last Friday, ace chuffed to bits with it, BUT!

It smokes on start up for about 3 seconds, Is this the old ford problem of valve stem seals. It's a 2.7td

It's a 1996 so how do I no if its a mk1 or mk2.

Just a diesel thing mate!! is it black or blue smoke??
As for your mk! do you have the round lights or the rectangular ones?

Its a Diesel thing, they all smoke on start and under heavy acceleration. How many times have you seen a modern diesel smoke when the driver puts the boot down.

Also they do not have spark plugs to ignite the fuel it is compression that ignites the fuel so when they are cold combustion is not so efficient.

If the smoke clears after start up you'll just need to replace the glow plugs.
