Hi all, this evening i went out with a few of the boys from West Yorkshire 4x4 volunteers on a green laning trip in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.

It is the first time i have really done any off roading in my truck and i have to say i was very impressed.

Both me and my truck held our own with all of the parts of the lane covered.

Cant wait for the next....

Here is a short video of one of the tracks....

that stuff looks hard and potentially damaging, would not want to do it in my road going motor, but my off roader no problem and it would not have got stuck as yours did in the vid cos it has a locked front diff and shortly to have a locked rear dif as well, but great fun anyway well done, Rick

Isn't that a good thing Rick ? NSR not spinning ( I couldn't see it by the way) would mean the other side does have drive and that one seemed to be on the ground.
That said I'd have expected the truck to push out of that rut if the LSD was ok. Might be worth checking the diff oil.
If all else fails, drive it like you stole it :lol

i've always been a bit dubious how well the rear lsd actually works.

Think I'll have to experiment with some tail happy action :naughty

I think it helps, but not in the same way a locked diff does.

it is what it is limited slip, if you jack up one rear wheel and put a bar on a wheel brace you can estimate the amount of force needed to make it slip and to be honest it is not that high, but then it would not want to be for normal road driving, or it would act as a locked diff and we know what that will mean, spin outs on wet roundabouts, but for off road stuff you need a locked diff, if it is a road going motor then a locker is the answer, but for nothing but off road then lock it up, Rick

Agreed , but hey it's free with the truck :thumb2
oops thread hijack :lol

Glad you enjoyed your 1st outing Ste :clap

I read on another Nissan forum, a thread about a guy who rebuilt his h233b LSD with bits from another donor diff. Basically the stock diff slips at 80 ft/lb. he swapped in more friction plates and removed diagram springs resulting in a 250ft/lb slip which I'm sure you'll agree is pretty useful offroad

Hi guys thanks for the replies.

It was a good couple of hours and am looking forward to the next one

I love seeing stock stuff tackling obstacles like that. You learn in time to give it slightly more welly just as you approach a cross-axle situation like that. With a bit of momentum, you can get that inflexible front end through incredible situations. Glad you enjoyed your first outing. May it be the first of many!

Crickey dint know there wer many lanes in that neck of the woods. At least you know your front hubs are working:thumbs

Jim

I don't suppose you would give the coordinates for your day out.Pleeeeeze

that lanes is no longer like that, the b*****ds repaired it,

this is what it looks like now :(
