All ready for playing tomorrow at Slindon, two nice new tyres on the rear, would have liked em a bit wider but at £25 each can't grumble, at this angle the offside hits the body hard, so may have to do a body lift some time, Rick

Have you lifted the suspension Rick? If so it's probably the panhard rod now off centered . If not then try some 10 or 15mm spacers :thumbs

No have not done anything to the suspension as yet, on closer look the fuel filler guard is what is hitting the tyre, when I remove the fuel tank that will be cured, with these tyres on the rear diff is 30mm higher than with the old mud pluggers, that are now on the front, will see how it performs tomorrow, can't wait, Rick

yea I know the feeling, I spent 2 hours strimming today and still did not finish the foot path, but conveniently ran out of two stroke!! so that can wait, I spent a bit of time modding the winch, the cable anchor bolt kept shearing due to the second cable layer when under strain would catch the bolt and shear it but not seen till you next play out the drum and it falls off, welded a small solid guard over the bolt so should hopefully stop that, Rick

Bit of a bad day

Bit of a saga today, all went well till I got to Lancing, when temp needle started climbing higher than usual up hill, it was a very hot day but climbed higher than I had ever seen it before, pulled over at first place I could, but too late head gasket gone, think if my hearing had not been so bad I would have heard it sooner but no matter I have a feeling the HG was staring to fail anyway, so had to get train back to Bexhill pick up wifes T2 and back to Lancing hook up trailer with off roader on it, as it was 2.30pm decided to carry on to Slindon and have an hour playing, then at 4.30 head for home, all ready to return with trailer to pick up my car at 6pm but decided to have food first so left at 7pm collected and home by just gone 9pm, not too bad considering, ad I have a couple of pics of the day, but will have to do something with the rear wheel arches, they do hit hard, 1st pic climbing hard with a motor in the way

normal running sits about 8 O clock working hard may hit 9 to 10, red starts at 11, it only got to 10 so was not too concerned till it started smelling a little, I am pretty sure the viscous fan did not kick in and it should have, also found a split in the plastic top of the rad so shot out most of the water, think this may be why the temp gauge did not go as high as it should, cannot tell if it was the head gasket caused over pressure = split, or if split was there and only leaked when working hard, whatever got the head off and sorry state, head if to be refitted would need skimming, but looks to me like it was not pulled down correctly as the head has a fair lip around the gasket this would not happen in five minutes but more long term, as can be seen in the pics, not a problem as I have another good head so just waiting for a gasket tomorrow, Rick

what smell would suggest a head gasket gone as mine got about as hot

it will only smell when it is overheating, I let mine cool down and then added water, when trying to start had virtually no compressions and air was coming from the rad cap coinciding with what should have been compressions, if you suspect yours has gone or going, then run the engine and with plenty of water in the top up container hold your hand over the rad filler (make sure it seals completely) if you see bubbles coming from the bottom of the top up bottle you gasket has failed, you may need to rev it a bit, if the engine is hot (best time to test) then you may want to use a flat piece of rubber over the rad hole to protect your hand, Rick
