Much talk about MPG, I found a good looking app on google play FuelLog v2.2.1, free with pay for option to get bells etc.

This app worked out my consumption for the Gatwick trip Monday, going was sunshine, coming home a blizzard I was so glad I had 4X4 first time used it in real need. anyway tank was filled to brim overall trip 134 miles top up to brim 21.96 litres app says 27.74 MPG nice display, works it all out, enter odo litres and price job done:clap

2 hours were spent in a queue near Sevenoaks:doh:doh:eek::eek:

I got same answer using Google on the PC for MPG calculator.

Now I will know every time I top up how it is going, I do have light right foot and one of those fancy air filter things in the filter box, name escapes me, 'oldtimers' thing:eek: Running Tesco deisel

We live in Sevenoaks, and tried to pop out at 10:30pm, the whole place was grid locked, so ended up turning round and heading back home.

Sounds interesting... From my days of doing 60 to 80K company miles a year I got into the habit of keeping a daily diary, which I also put petrol and any work I have done to the car. Every so often I shove it all into an Excel spread sheet, and let it calculate the lot.

In the past it has been interesting how the fuel consumption goes up in the winter, and down in the summer, plus there is often a noticeable improvement after a major service. I also noted if I got stuck in bad traffic, as that would have an impact as well.

I've only had my Terrano a couple of months, & to begin with I was getting high 20's. I started to monitor consumption though, & changed how I drive. Topped up yesterday & was pleased to see 35.8mpg from my 3.0 DVE :thumb2

That's made me REALY envious LOL. I'm getting 26mpg max, but have yet to do a long run (over 50 miles) solo. Am trying addition of 2 stroke oil @ ratio of 1 in 200 to try & improve matters, but it's early days yet.

I could handle 26mpg if I wasn't doing 65 miles a day commuting, lol! I have 2/3 A-roads to 1/3 dual carriageway (with very little traffic) to drive Monday-Friday. Keeping it to 50-ish on the single carriageway, & just over 60 on the dual has made the world of difference. Plus I have Pirelli Scorpions fitted, which I'm told are quite a low resistance tyre :thumb2

Bridgestone Dueler 840's are going on when it needs boots though, so I'll probably see an increase as a result :(
