Well just booked her in for Thursday.

Washer pump all fixed so fingers crossed, gonna be a long day Thursday until I get that phone call.

What's your opinions about sticking a few litres of new cooking oil in and giving it a thrash up and down a motorway to give engine a good clean out?

I wouldn't mate. just put some decent cataclean in there and thrash it. veg oil is only going to loosen any dirt inside and that might make it worse.

Yes, a good thrashing in each gear, where conditions allow, red line it hold it then next gear.No need to exceed any speed limits.

Only start this when the engine is warm.

A 15-20 mile thrash along a dual carriageway or motorway should sort it and clear out all the cobwebs.

I do mine quite regularly if it isn't doing any long runs, and it really runs better afterwards.:thumb2

Good luck with the mot:thumbs

best regards,

Rustic

I'm glad that you've brought that up as I was wondering what peoples views were on taking a car in for MOT running on Veg?

Well my way of thinking is that the emissions drop with Veg Oil so can't do any harm for the MOT. I used Veg Oil for a while a few years ago without any problems it was just cost that put me off. Certainly running it a short time on veg diesel mix before MOT such as the night before shouldn't cause any blockages or muck from fuel lines. If it needs fuel filter changing a couple of weeks after that shouldn't really cause too much of an issue. Only thinking veg oil mix just for MOT, go back to straight diesel next fill up.

So to my way of thinking it'll drop emissions for the test it's self?

running on veg will drop your emissions certainly while you are running it jim

No point running on some before. But run it for the mot.

I wouldn't worry though, my 90 smokes like a beast and it passed. 50/50 mix.

Why did the cost put you off veg being that its cheaper?

Well it doesn't do the same miles anymore so thought it better to stick with straight diesel. As for cost, well it did go up in price and isn't that far off unless you stumble upon the deals with large quantities.

As for running it on mix I did mean for the test, still don't want to run it on mix for good just now and then but I was thinking of giving it a helping hand for the test.

£10 for 10 litres at Tesco, seems to be an ongoing offer too....... A lot cheaper than diesel lol ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372145822.475066.jpg

Believe that you will believe anything, carbon deposits are the problem, and if you can find something that dissolves carbon you will be an instant millionaire, Rick

Tell me about it ive just spent three days laid in a boiler scraping and grinding carbon off welds ready for the boiler inspector to inspect
Lovely job
