MOT and LOOONG towing trip

I have just got back from a weeks holiday in the truck.
On Monday I drive to the south of France to pick up my 2 tonne (including trailer) boat and return to South Wales with it.

It will be my first very long towing journey. I'm using B100 :thumbs (home made biodiesel) so the fuel costs should be low. She had a oil and filters service last week so ready to go

Today I'm having an MOT - it's the first one for me. I know I need two new front tyres so I'm already at £220 before they start looking for problems

Fingers crossed - I'll let you know we get on.

How'd ya get on with the MOT then?

Since you're using BIO I'd be taking a spare fuel filter with me and a breakdown cover too but then I worry too much ask Clivvy.

Advisories were flashing airbag light. I have tried both methods on here to try and re-set it, but it doesn't work for me.

I've done 7000 miles on BIO so I think the gunge in the tank is well and truly cleared out fully now. I have an extra inline filter before the main filter just in case though.

The tester did comment on how my car had almost zero emmision that smelled of a chip shop though

I'm back

I returned yesterday.

The car was great driving all the way to the south of France, picking up the boat and driving it all the way home again.

I was surprised how much more fuel the car used though with the extra weight. At least most of it was BIO as I packed the boot full of extra fuel.

We are off to France soon, did you get any hassle from the French rozzers, I have been told that they are hot on pulling GB vehicles and checking for the breathalysers we are now required to carry

Ive been driving to south of France and back for the last 15 years.
I have never been stopped or hassled in any way - yet.

I believe that you currently must have:

1 Triangle
2 yellow vests
1 full bulb spare kit
2 breatherliser kits
GB sticker on car
headlamp deflectors fitted.

Also advisable to have:

Insurance certificate
Drivers license
Comprehensiveeuropean breakdown cover.

Personally I have never put on the GB sticker because I don't want to advertise my nationality (Many French still don't like the british)
I have never fitted headlamp deflectors although the T20 has then on from previous owner and I can't get them off.

Yeah, I have been over many times also and have never been pestered, just the normal scaremongering.

I have light protectors on mine which I just stick home made deflectors on.
No GB sticker??, I may have a go at that, the new car doesn't have a spare wheel cover like my old one, so not happy sticking GB to my paint.
Will carry one in the car though:augie
