Afternoon All,
A couple of more stupid questions ...
Does the 2.7 TDI have a egr valve and if so where is it?
Banjo mini filter does it need to be there?

Thanks
Martin

After cleaning my mini filter for the umpteenth time due to crappy Spanish fuel, I didn't bother replacing it 2 years ago - been fine ever since (and not all models have them anyway!.

hmmm got me thinking now Terranical..... I'll after to dig it out and have a see....also while on the subject of cleaning things just did the maf sensor (have a hitachi one) and that had a grimey film around it lets see how she runs now...

Later models 1996 onwards had the mini filter built into the banjo bolt but not all were fitted with them

Thanks for that you dont know what size the bolt is? just may have a look at it tomorrow if it stays dry so I noticed Alex's post if it in the bolt just use carb cleaner.....

regarding the egr valve as mine is at the rear of the engine is it a pig of a job to remove? just that I'd like to clean it and the do the "ball bearing up grade"

yep fair bit of striping to get to it and you need a blanking plate made from a tin can, the ball bearing only sorts the vac actuator, which will do nothing if the valve is passing, most are, Rick

Dam...... I may give it a miss...... just change fuel filter and see what state of play the mini filter in....

The banjo bolt is 17mm, used a very long extension & ratchet when i've done them & found I didn't have to remove the power steering just slackened tha adjuster right off which gave me enough room to get my arm down to the pump

Did the mini filter (note to self when working around engine make sure it is cold)as Sweety et al had advised .... got banjo bolt out with washer insitu:) then notice no mini filter:thumbs......so thought cracked it come to put it back .... placed fat hand down gap to postion bolt and washer as it had become free touched hot engine block dropped bolt and washer between engine and pump .... luckly have extending magnetic rod, retrieved bolt had to push washer thru gap to drop underneath truck and then removed battery and losened steering pump to make enough room for fat hand..... but the upside is no mini filter to worry about:clap
