so today I again noticed the smoke coming from the exhaust. This time, it appeared I had black, then white/blue and black again. I cant tell if its white, grey or blue tbh, looked grey. Anyway, this was after the car had been stood all day, I had to go downot our other office, and noticed it when in the car park.gave it a few revs and the same, black, then grey (or whatever) then black, and its ALWAYS just a puff when you initially press the pedal, it doesnt continue.

So I gets home, and asked Heidi to do the honours whilst I video it. I live approx 5 miles from work so the engine was warmed up, and lo and behold, only black puffs of smoke, see here:

so, if i am getting white smoke, grey smoke or blue smoke from cold only that doesnt continue as you hold the pedal down, what the chuff is that?

Major cause of this symptom is sitting on your drive and revving the car for no real reason. ( and then imagining imaginary problems)
Simple cure, don't rev it up when stationary and adjust your passenger side mirror so you can't see anyway.

clive m8 you got to admit the above post is good.....:lol

I like the sound of his warning noise when he starts it up, it's jus t"bloody typical" (sorry couldn't resist).

To be honest Clivvy I think they all smoke like that. Has much better effect at night when you have someone behind you. The head lights don't half show it up. As far as I'm concerned mate is it's a diesel and that's what diesels do.

If mine didn't smoke when I revved it, I'd have to use my brake lights or the windscreen washer to get people to back off. I prefer the smoke because it smells of chips.
Just had a LR right up my chuff for about 10 miles tonight, he must have been gasping for fresh air by the time I turned off.

What smoke, I did not see any, Rick

the video doesnt show it up very well BUT the smoke that was coming out during the making of that film was black, and only a puff when first pressing the pedal. yesterday it did that but black AND white/grey or blue!

Any chance of doing another video with all this grey-black-blue stuff, but don't get too close this time.

Cheers

See my recent thread about adding 2 stroke oil to your diesel.
Since doing this i have no smoke whatsoever from my truck, I tried it out for the first time this week, i put 100ml of 2 stroke topped with 40l diesel in my tank and now i'm a smokless zone.
Particularly noticable when starting from cold, i used to get a large cloud of smoke from the exhaust, its now gone, same with accelerating, thats gone also.
The recommended ratio is 1:200, 5ml per litre of diesel, i started with half that and it seems to work for me.
You've nothing to lose by trying it except £1.99 for a 500ml bottle of 2 stroke from Morrissons:thumb2
