I'm not a phone snob at all but i'll cough to it, I do like my mobi.

My contract is well past its renewal date and I'm being offered all sorts of deals for no more dosh just to sign up for 18 months.

One I'm tempted by is for a Blackberry curve, it has gprs and sat nav on it.

Anyone got one or any experience of them? are they as good as they're hyped up to be?

I really don't know :?

Dave,
I am in a simmilar position and have considered keeping the phone and going for a sim only deal, as they are contrat free and the dels are so much better check out o2's 'sim-plicity' the inclusive minutes and texts are far better than a sima and phone deal it may be worth your whlie to take a look

I got an older DangleBerry (Pearl) for work - it's ok, cos someone else pays the bill. Curves are pretty good too with a full keyboard.

Why not go for a Storm - if you can get one

I ain't a phone snob either - I've never actually owned one

Thanks folks, I have no loyalty to T mobile who I'm with at the mo so its going to be anything goes

You are so a phone snob, I just got and old Nokia with some numbers that dont work and switches off when it wants after I fell in the loch!

NNman I am the same I just got a new phone as my old one had gone quiet, I put up with making people shout so i could hear them for a few months and then scrounged a third hand phone, that happened to fit my sim.

if you not bothered about tmobile then the i phone on 02 its the dogs gonads

I'd heard that the battery life on the iphone isnt good :?: have you found that :?:

Tmobile first sent me a google phone as an upgrade but its gone back  thats meant to be an iphone rival but the battery didnt last long enough to do everything you wanted to do in a day :!:

I must admit i use a IPhone and love it.
Yes the battery is not the greatest. but it is ok.

I have just bought a extra battery pack that sits round it like a glove. But still gives you access to all controls.
It also allows you to charge/sync it from a standard mini USB.

I use it instead of a blackberry for work email and also my home email and phone.

Thanks

p.s. the battery life has got better on my Iphone as charged and discharged a few times.
Also the Bluetooth wifi and 3g sap it. If you dont need them turn them off. It is surprising the difference.

hi iansjones
have a look at e-buyer they are giving away wii's and x-boxes with their phones
regards
Tony

there are lots of places giving away all sorts.

laptops, LCD tv's, Xbox's

sepends what you want
just search on Google.

the battery on any phone are crap now becuse they got so much on them

thanks for the info, I've just been talking to t mobile to see what they could offer............

at the moment all new handsets (except the google) are £75 on top of the scheme you choose 8O lots of waffle about credit crunch, xmas surcharge springs to mind :!:

Shopping around about to start if there any more (gratefully received) top tips out there

xda phone

have you tried a xda from 02, i have just renewed my contract with them and got the xda zest but they have a small range in the xda range. they get a satnav on them, you get a trial with it. it is not bad at all, it comes a microsoft progrm on , mp3,phone and alot more. you can see the range on 02,s site.

This is just an idea 'hypothetical' I have no idea about the type of phones you are considering, I am phone dunce :?

have you considered buying just a phone, say browsing ebay etc. either unlocked or allready sim locked to the company of your choice, and then shopping for the best sim contract?

it may be even more exspensive, but i am just thinking of all these 'exspensive' free laptop's being given away at teh moment and wen you add the cost of the laptop to the cost of mobile broadband alone and do the maths, they are very expensive and you have a laptop with 12months warranty and often a 2/3 year contract so potentialy could hit problems!

Does the same apply to mobile contracts?

good scheme and you're correct about the freebies, phone alone usually clocks in loads cheaper. They do make for pricey laptops and games consoles.

I too am a bit of a backward sort when it comes to phones (embarrasment to the kids). Just found out today about the different kinds of emails they have that I didn't know about :!:

I got back in touch with tmobile and asked for my pac code (so you can take your number) and told them no way was I paying £75 for a handset of any description. They immediately gave me £5 a month off until I decided to upgrade or leave up to a max of 6 months.

So if anyones in similar spot, go for it

I'm currently using 2 phones.

My main one is on pay as you go with ASDA monbile, 4p/text 8p/min flat rate

The second is pay as you go with 3 mobile which I use purely as a skype phone, allowing me to call other skype users for free worldwide. I haven't even put any credit on it to date though will have to soon just to retain the usage.
