Does anyone have minimum spec of tyres for the T2.

Just looked on door pillar but only gives 235/70R16

Wondering what weight and speed minimums too.

ie 109S etc, the AT2 were over spec'ed as I recall
might have been 109S for that matter.

the number, equates to the weight in pounds, multiplied
up say 1800 LBs and the letter the max speed.

From memory Q is 99 mph, R is 108? S is 118 or so.

found this on blackcircles.com

have used their service twice.

Speed Rating Mile/Hour Kilometers/Hour

N 87 140

bit condensed, courtesy of bc again

so logically providing tryre speed exceeds speed of vehicle

and the tyre load rating exceeds half of the heaviest axle
ie the rear then all should be well.

mine has 3x insa turbo mountains which despite being
retreads have a respectable 106S spec, the other rear
is a federal with a 105H rating and the spare is a
bridgestone 689, possilbly one of factory supplied tyres
with 106H.

So is it legal to run 'slow' mud tyres providing they exceed
the national road speed, though might not exceed vehicle's
speed providing can carry the loaded vehicle.

Noted all serious muds are Q even BFGs but hey 99mph is
more than enough eh?

Well just signed into blackcircles
using my reg not just known tyre
size and it says the 235/70R16
should be "107T".

Well there aren't many that are upto
this spec, plenty are 106, many are
104/105 including bfg mt's!

So a "107" can carry 975Kg and doubled
for heaviest axle( rear ) 1950Kg.

T2 has Max Auth Mass of 2580Kg and rear
axle is rated at 1460Kg, don't have front
max to hand but its less and the two
combined are more than car's max, I guess
to allow for uneven loading.

The "T" means upto 116MPH, yeah right!
Think a 2.7tdi is good for 96-99 MPH down
hill a pushing wind.

I note from the table below that 1460Kg/2
is 730Kg which equates to a "97" minimum
load rating. All the tyres I've looked at are
104s or above, ie 900kg so x2 1800kg well
above the trucks 1460kg rating plate.

The toughest "slowest" MT I've seen has a
Q / 99MPH rating.

So my thought is make sure atleast match tyre load
to give safety margin, this truck lugs and tugs, but
can the speed rating be decreased providing exceeds
legal road speed and actual speed limit of truck.

SO a 199S is can carry more and and maxs at 112mph
way above truck's own.

And is that going to be ok with insurance, noting truck
currently has 106 not 107 ratings anyway, but hay some
of them are 130MPH H's!

my owners manual only states the size too! I have Avon rangers on mine, not my choice it had a brand new set when i bought it, but they have served me very well in all sorts of conditions. Would you like me to read the specs from my sidewalls?

Googled tyre specs in general, one sight said be wary of sites that
quote spec based on registration number as can be wrong!

Funny though how many sites use reg mark to determine model
of truck for other parts.
