Had a look at greasing the prop shaft - could only find a grub screw. Is the proceedure to remove this and fit a grease nipple and if so any idea of the size ?
Can I get enough grease in just pressing the grease gun into the hole after removing the grub screw?

Grease guns are designed to fit on a grease nipple and force grease under pressure into the UJ,ball joint, steering knuckle etc.
I doubt that you would be able to get the grease to wherever its supposed to go by simply squeezing grease into a hole m8.
I think your idea or removing the grub screw and replacing it with a grease nipple is the way to go.
Having said that I am wondering why the prop UJ's were not fitted with grease nipples as standard !
Are they sealed units ? I'm not sure. I looked in the Terrano manual for a lubrication schedule for prop, steering joints etc but couldn't find one :?

If you take the grub screw to any motor factor they shouls be able to match thread to grease nipple.

Mistral prop shaft greasing

Thanks for the quick reply.
My local factor reconed he had not sold grease nipples for a decade but thats less than the age of the Mistral.
I thought the UJ might be nippleless to allow more flexibility !

Some Ujs are not grease-able but if you have a blank it wouldn’t hurt to fit a nipple and give them a pump of grease. Many people over grease Ujs, this can blow the seals out and leavening dirt get in and wear out the needle rollers.
I have seen sealed joints outlast over greased joints many times on other applications.

1/4 unf or m6 thread .put grease in until crackling noise or seal starts to move a bit, sealed for life is rubbish, when it fails ,thats its life???????
some joints have a relief valve opposite the nipple to stop you blowing the seals out ,mainly on larger hardy spicers
