Came up with a solution for my mirror and it still folds in.
Alex the bit in the hole on your door should just push out.
And in there is a spring.
You need that.

Split the casing on your mirror.but be careful not to break.
Cut the wires out as you won't be able fix the electrics.
And you have got this

Drop the bolt through the mirror like this and it will wedge itself into place

Now put your mirror in place with the original spring a washer and nyloc nut

Yeah.if some thought went into it.you could save the electrics.
Mines the drivers side so I don't mind manual.

Thanks for OD that was what I wanted

I took the cables out of the connector so no cuts or sleaving, I may get away with a 6 or 7mm hole, I have a lathe so should not be too hard.
I will search for Rich solarmans posting

If you cut the wires then it will be fidly but in my case I dismantled the connector so the wires just have the barbed socket on the end.
Being colour blind even though I took pictures putting it together in the right sequence may be a challenge.
When I do the fix I will post pictures, please do not hold breath I tend to put things off, I have a working mirror thanks to CNC so there is no rush.
