Lacroupade kindly advised me about engine oil via a Comma link which said that I should use semi-synthetic engine oil in my Mav 2.7TD
I used to run a Vectra TD and still have a fair quantity of Tesco mineral diesel oil left.
Is it safe to use this oil or mix it with the Comma semi -synthetic?

Its a very personal point of view really - the T2 my wife drives has been owned by us since new, now ten years old and done 176,000 miles.....I've chucked all sorts in it TBH, mixed with all sorts of other stuff - if it says diesel on the tin it goes in.:lol

And to be honest, I don't yet know anyone who's had a Nissan diesel engine from the Mav or Terrano actually wear out on them...unless somebody wants to correct that - and I guarantee lots of folk are as unfussy as me....

Its worth having a google on the term "mixing mineral and synthetic oils".

Concensus from a quick scan there seems to be that, unless its a pure synthetic of a very specific type that we wouldn't enounter, its not an issue, but obviously you should draw your own conclusions.:thumb2

well my Vectra had 359000 miles on it when it finally expired due to fuel pump!

Mixing mineral and synthetic wont harm the engine if theyre of the correct grades.

I wouldnt mix it though becuase it'll almost default back to the lower standard/quality product :naughty
