Greetings !

I'm wondering if someone could please recommend a mechanic in the Somerset area to work on my 1997 Y60 Patrol. The first job that needs doing is to rebuild both front hubs to cure what I believe are leaking axle shaft seals.

Hopefully, there maybe someone who has a better knowledge of these older Patrols than my local garage while, ideally, not charging quite as much as the Nissan Main Dealers ! A Y60 owner who works on other people's vehicles would be fine with me if there is such a person in, or not too far from, Somerset.

Many Thanks !

P.S. Is Aus still the best place from which to to order hub rebuild kits ?

CNCfabs comes to mind think he is in your area, think another member has his contact details as he is not a payed up member now, sure they will be allong latter, Rick

You can get the constituent parts from uk suppliers like milners or Japanese 4x4 parts but most don't sell in kit form :doh

As for garages to do the work, any competent garage should be able to do it :nenau There are a few guys on here who have done it themselves.

I personally get the garage to do it as I don't have anywhere to work at home except the street so if I can't guarantee to myself that the work will be done in a day I don't usually try it :(

Thank you for your replies. Very much appreciated.

My local garage, who are generally very good, diagnosed the leaking hub as needing a whole new axle. After reading the extremely informative threads on here I wondered if there might be someone fairly near me who might be a bit more experienced with working on Y60's. This isn't a job I fancy doing myself !

Yep, only people I really know in that area who would be competent enough to do that Job would be CNCFabs and MadMark, but Mark would probs be a little too busy to tackle something like that :doh
