Help!

Urgently need a bulb holder for rear indicator in RHS (drivers side) rear bumper light cluster.

2005 LWB 3.0.

Indicator wasn't working. Turns out some f'in monkey has done a bodged repair which has failed.

Supposed to be taking my father to RAF Cosford next Monday in it!

Any help grateful.

Emergency downgraded from Defcon 1 to Defcon 3 following half an hour of emergency modification.

I've done a work around by soldering wires to bulb and threading thro' a hole drilled in back of holder and back filled with a bit of silicone sealant.

Zippy, if I could have that loom that'd be great. I'll PM you with an email address and then let me know how much you want.

No panic, as I'm okay for moment, but it'd be nice to get it fixed properly.

Thanks all.

:clap

Zippy to the rescue, just a note though getting that plug apart onto the main loom is a right game, it fills up with crud and so does not allow the locking tit to disengage, Rick

I have already discovered this!

Still working on that one Rick.

:lol

Pretty sure this should be a Pan Pan call :augie

This was a new one to me, but, following some investigation I stand corrected.

The title should have read:

Pan-Pan, Pan-Pan, Pan-Pan.

Thanks for the info, I shall know better next time.

I'd be worried what else may have been patched up like that along the way before you owned it

I'm trying not to dwell on that thought.

Everything else works as it should, I'll deal with issues as they arrive.

From what I can gather, someone had drilled to the back of the contacts and put a screw in to hit the failed wires in the moulding and hit the back of the internal contacts.

Not the worst idea in the world. Just not very well executed.

:doh

Any-hoo. Work-around will keep it mobile until Zippy's parcel arrives.

Easy little sort out there mate, you have to think to be fair if they were so ill equipped that they fixed an electrical plug like that, I can imagine they don't even have a worthy enough tool set to even begin to take anything else apart on it so you are probably safe!!!

Good job it's in your hands now :thumb2

Let's grasp that thought and hold on tight!

They are prone to breaking there, it went there on my car, and as a road side repair, I wish I had thought of that. I ended up driving 80miles back home in the dark, with no offside light. Luckily I had just replaced the rear bumper, and had my old lights and wiring to replace it when I got home.

To be honest, if he had used a shorter screw and put a bit of Silicon over it, it could have outlasted the car, and no-one would have been any the wiser.
