I have a 94 maverick LWB which I am delighted with. I have a couple of questions if anyone can help.
My 5th gear seems very low. When cruising it feels as if it could do with one higher gear. Is this normal are there any fixes?.

Second, I have a small amount of corrosion in the form of bubbling on the rear wheelarches. It would appeare that this is a common fault on the Maverick. Is there a way to stop it getting worse other than the obvious one of sanding it down an repainting the whole body panel.

I have often found that my T2 could really do with a 6th gear when on the motor way but after time i've got used to it  but the next time I change my tyres i'm going for 31" which should help in dropping the revs down a bit & help to get the speedo to read more true  At the min whilst doing 70mph the revs sit just under 3K if that helps.
As for your little rust prob most of us suffer from it  I had a few rust scaps behind the rear bumper which I cleaned off the loose rust then treated it with jenolite acid which so far has has kept it back

I was thinking the same today

ah fancied another cog in the box for a while.

sometimes i find myself trying to go upto 6th
oops and only find 4th so have to put it back
where i found it lol.

but if gained a 6th then would like 1st a bit lower,
well deeper as it were. guess trying to say each
gear about half a gear lower so 6th would be like
5.5 maybe.

wonder if an overdrive could be fitted.

in the us there is a conversion by marlin for hiluxs
which gives incredible low ratios for off road, recall
a second transfer box is fitted and props need
redesigning front and rear. with lwb t2 it could be
possible too...
