maverick gearbox

Greetings, will a petrol gearbox fit a diesel engine? Mine has lost 4th gear and finding a gearbox is not as easy as I thought. I know the ratio's will be different but its used mainly as a shopping trolley, or failling this anyone got a gearbox they want to part with? :lol:

Why not get your own fixed ?

I reckon you might find it easier to source any parts you might need to get your own box sorted out...its got to come out anyway..maybe its already out :smile:

Ronypony, I dont think buying the parts and rebuilding the box would be cost effective, 4th gear is non existant, most bearings in the box are worn or u/s, syncro's showing bad wear, oil seals u/s but the transfer box seems ok, :smile:

Hi guys for what its worth...you can buy cheap mavericks on ebay . Especially petrol swb. I had an N reg for £200 with one months mot. I had the tyres and a few other bits off it before 4th gear went. I sold it on ebay again for £180.
So if you cant get a box here dip into the joys of ebay. Get the bits you want then bin whats left!
