hey guys,
I want to lift my '93' mav but i dont know how to go about it. I see people talking of body lifts and tyres, but i havent got a clue.
is there any pics or downloads of how to go about it.

by the way its a LWB!

Welcome to the site. Would think that the easiest way to get lift is put on higher profile tyres and take off anything affecting ground clearance, e.g. hitch, bull-bars etc. Lot of threads on here about biggest tyres that can be stuck under Terrano/Maverick. Have a look at the thread titled Tyres in the Terrano / Maverick Technical section under Equipment, Modification and Toys.

other than tyres is there anything else that can be done in order to lift the ride height? i've seen people talking about body lifts is it worth while

Suspension lift is nice n cheap:D Something like £70 for a couple of springs from Teranus:thumbs Wind up the front torsion bars to match the back and fanny's your uncle:cool:
2" lift :sly

How easy are those springs to fit then Pete? I'm tempted...

Piece of P mate. Just jack up the backend and undo one end of the shocks and ARB. The axle should then drop enough for the old springs to drop out. Stick the new ones in and reconect the shocks :sly Simples
Oh dont bother putting the arb back on

SIMON - if you read this, got any springs left? I assume we are talking about a kosher extended spring (mine is a LWB) and not just LWB springs fitted to a SWB, which I thought I had seen recommended somewhere for some reason?

Yeas I've got springs left.

+2" SWB
+2" HD SWB
+2" HD LWB

LWB springs in a SWB give about 35mm lift but are a tad on the hardside especially given less lift IMHO.

The HD springs are actualy the same unladen length as a standard spring due to the higher spring rate, this helps counter the greater tendency for body roll due to the lift.

Is that a technical way of saying they compress less than the standard spring, hence increasing the ride height??

Questions:

1. Does it worsen the ride in any way (in a LWB).

2. What IS body roll like with these fitted (an answer from someone who likes to 'press on', as the police manual says, would be useful...

3. Emma Chizzit?

cheers muchly!

is a 2" lift as big as you can go on the LWB or can you get bigger. Also when changing the ride height do you have to change the shocks for longer and stronger ones.
What is an ARB? I dont understand the termanology.

Does anyone hard a link to the workshop manual so i can see how to wind up the torsion bars

you can get extra hight with body lift, some kits are on ebay.

shocks i belive are Ok, but open to a better answer...

ARB.. antie roll bar.. ( some have removed theres )

do a search, loads of torsion bars and ARB's on herem how too ect..

Bougsie

There are ARBs front and back, both very obvious, and the front bushes/droplinks go very commonly. Cheap and easy to fit from Milners. Worth checking them.

The front ARB is a 'must have' and will seriously feck your control when braking/steering at speed. Rear ARBs can be removed as their absence tends to just allow a bit more body roll but also a LOT more articulation off road, keeping both wheels on the ground more often.

BUT be aware its a modification away from the way the truck was produced and could have insurance/legal implications if you are stopped on-road by someone with time to spare if you know what I mean. Easy enough to reconnect though if you take it off for a day out.

I would never advise anyone to remove them permanently, but each to his own.:thumbs

Theres a download showing you how to adjust the torsion bars, or plenty of threads on the subject - just leave the front slightly lower than the back so that it doesn't sag too much at the rear with a load on.

Zippy will post the link to the Manuel....
