Mav Hub Bolts

I recently succeeded in damaging one of the rear hub bolts on my Mav (don't ask, it's too embarassing!) I've had a browse of the site looking for any previous posts on replacing the hub bolts but didn't find anything. Does anybody have any experience of this job? Can I hammer the old bolt back out of the hub or do I risk damaging the hub that way?
