might get a new steering arm at the same time and do the grease nipple mod.

Fitted mine this evening but did a bit of remodelling with the angle grinder first - then a coat of red paint, just some I had about.

Pete "madeitfit" but I made it prettier I think

All new hardware and a grease nipple too - well worth fitting I stripped an old one I and and there's cavities and groves for the grease to sit in but also to flow down so you can push the old grease out of the rubber seals at each end.

Not sure if the brace will tighten the steering up, but it will certainly make the idler arms last longer especially if kept greased regularly.

Cant wait to get mine on this coming weekend :sly :thumbs :bow

(could you get me a nipple pleasse Pete ;))

im a bit thick so excuse my ignorance:augie but is this not a standard part? if not why do you make and fit them? also can i have the dimensions please so i can nock some up?

is this not a standard part?
NO

why do you make and fit them?
Because the steering puts a lot of stress on the steering idler and it can flex, bend or even snap the pivot pin especially offroad etc. Supporting the pin in double sheer will help prevent this problem.

also can i have the dimensions please so i can nock some up?

Not sure of the dimensions but I have an old steering idler here if you wanted to borrow it. TBH its probably easier to order one off Pete (makeitfit).

For a road car they will be of debatable use but for an offroader definitely a good idea - but for either fitting a grease nipple and greasing every now and then has to be a good idea.

thanks for the offer of the loan but i wont be doing much offroad... im a welder and the steels free..

might do the grease nipple though:thumbs

what thread are the grease nipples im looking on ebay but dont want the wrong ones

larson

They're 6mm x 1mm but if you're after them I can do them at 20p each + postage which would be 47p for up to 100g or 76p for upto 250g depends how many you'd want, not got any in stock but am ordering some anyway tomorrow so will have on tuesday.

Can do a budget grease gun with grease cartridge for £10 - but need to check postage on that - but grease nipple free!
