Thought I'd better start a new thread....The following links (read right through) imply its often 'just' a matter of swapping the ECU and the MAF....any comments? Ok so my all-time wet dream car the Audi RS6 gets a mench there somewhere, but don't lose the plot...!

Umm no, you'd need to swap the inj pump too, for a bosch item (rather than zexel) which would require the multiplug to be changed.

I would imagine the pin-outs on the ECU would be different too, possibly, so you would need the engine bay wiring loom from a donor.

You'd possbily they run into problems with the immobilizer...

Not easy unless anyone else knows better...

i am wondering what would the puropse of the change be? wouldnt it be just as simple to just get a new MAf of the appropriate kind?

Are there any benefits to the swap?

The Hitachi maff has a built in amplifier and costs about £400
The Bosch one isn't amplified and is a lot simpler design and costs between £35-£70 they seem to fail because they go out of tolerence

Didn't know about the amp, although at that price you'd expect them to be reliable!!!

daft question of the day

Hitachi or Bosch one how do i find out what one ive got?

they are different shapes, and the Hitachi has three wires and I believe Bosch four.... bri
