so i have fitted a maf amp from ray a nice bit of kit simple to fit and adjust but between ray and my self we think im not seeing much improvement because my IQ isnt set right i resealed my injection pump recently and i know iv not got it set just so. i really need to connect my lappy up and get some readings from another TDI so i can adjust the IQ its possible its over fueling slightly hence cancleing out any maf amp improvements.

any ways im now thinking its time to turn up the turbo boost looking at posts on here and generally on the net its a simple fix i can add more fuel with the maf amp so i need more air clearly a boost gauge fitted or i can just use a vac gauge to set it some on the net go as hight as 18psi standard is about 14psi.

search hasnt brought up any decent photos or how to guides on fitting a boost gauge so i mite just use my vacum gauge so where is best to connect it ? and which way do i turn the actuator rod ? clock wise or anti clock wise looking at it from the front of the engine

you cannot turn up the turbo, it is what it is, the adjustment you refer to is the waste gate which simply reduces turbo pressure at a given point, but this will only be at very high revs, and altering it is not going to increase your performance, lower down, the maf amp will do that, but you have been playing with your pump, so you may have altered a setting without realising it, fly by wire pumps are very complicated devices, Rick

Fit the boost gauge after the IC as this reflects more closely the pressure seen at the inlet and not the turbo output.

OR go for a bigger compressor turbine :sly
Here's the std iccle wheel

and here's my new slightly bigger comp turbine :naughty

That'll put some more wind up your chuff :freak3:

my control sleeve position is not set perfectly and is therefore effecting the Injection Quantity its a simple matter of adjusting the IQ housing the bit on my reseal write up i said had to be perfect. when i lift off the throttle as the revs come down there is a bit of and only slight flutter of the revs instead of dropping nicely to 750/800 rmp it flutters a round 900 then drops to 750.

if the housing is not aligned exactly it effects the IQ as a magnectic field around the sleeve reads its postion releative to its postion inside the housing or thats how iv come to understand it. the vw boys have vag-com to read the IQ after resealing there pumps we dont but i can still get a useful reading with consult 2 and ecu talk like i siad i need to get some readings of another tdi to give me a base line to set mine to. then hopefully i will benefit from the maf amp and turning up the fuel at the moment on or off i cant tell much differnce if any but i do have a healthy maf voltage readings are spot on if not better than standard, the maf amp is still an ace bit of kit tho :thumbs

I adjusted my last T2 to run at 1.2bar & the pressure was the same from 1800-4000rpm & never dropped once it came onto boost. My mate is thinking of fitting a Terrano turbo onto his pug 306 & has found out the Terrano turbo will handle 2 bar:eek:

After i had my re-map done i fitted a boost controller so i could increase to 18 psi from the standard 14 psi but all it did was cause the ecu to go into limp mode. Best way really is to change the turbo and run a manual injection pump that you can adjust.

It's not the bar issue but getting enough fuel
That's why I went LPG route and bigger comp turbine :naughty

Thats what i want to do, had a reet do with a bird in a defender td5 the other night, she did have me but i think with the LPG injection she will only see smoke or and ill be able to pull the caravan a bit quicker... :sly
