When I get the BMW back from the repairers hopefully next week I am looking as replacing the front discs & pads as they came up on the MoT advisory - usual corrosion creeping down from the outer edges due to low mileage / use.

I have priced some up and as it has 300 mm discs they are around £130 for a pair of branded discs. I have noticed that MTEC & Mintbitz do a pair for around £90.00 with options of cross drilled & slotted as standard.

Anyone any experience of these products I just like the look of them compared to boring standard vented ones ?

Race cars used to use drilled rotors, but no longer do. The idea was that the holes helped to cool the disc & also allow gas trapped between the rotor & pad to dissipate. It turned out the holes made no difference in cooling & in some cases especially when the disc wore down it cracked at the weakest point, being the holes.

Slotted are better & serve the same idea as the holes, but you're not structurally weakening the rotor.
The down side is, your pads won't last as long.
In the real world of normal driving, stick to normal vented rotors, unless you plan on tracking your BMW.

I run slotted on the Monaro & push 470 horses. I have reached the limit of my rotors on a few occasions. They desperately need changing now, but I can't warrant spending £2000.00 on some new ones when I have more important jobs to do. Hence she's been off the road for over two years :( :(

I have mtec all round and love them.
They keep a lot cooler, especially when up in the mountains.
As you say, they look Good too!
It's also interesting what Pete has said..
Mine came with Brembo pads. £120
